Back in the Bubble: Bishop's Part 2

Hello everyone! First of all, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year and a Happy Back to School/Work! I hope that your holiday was both fun and relaxing and made you ready to take on 2013! Fun fact for you - 2013 is the first year since 1987 to be composed of 4 different numbers and we will have 4 different numbers from now until 2020! So here's to the new year and to keeping all of those resolutions that you've probably already forgotten about!

As you've probably guessed, I am back in Lennoxville in my cozy little residence room! I got back on Monday night after a long and busy holiday break. With my exam schedule, I lucked out and had over a month of vacation and over that time I was busy as usual. I worked a lot at a store in Ancaster called Benix where I made a lot of new friends and learned a lot about houseware products. I saw a lot of my family, including my grandparents who flew in from Winnipeg and my cousins who drove in from Ottawa. I saw my old skating team compete in two competitions and watched as many of my old teammates qualified for the Junior World Championships held in Finland in March. I saw my friends and coworkers from the summer at our Camp Staff Christmas Party. I celebrated New Year's in Waterloo with my best friend and bogmate, Jocelyn. And I spent a week in Lake Placid with my dad and siblings, where we skied at Whiteface Mountain and skated on the Olympic Speed Skating Oval. And finally, I ended the break the same way I started, with a 6 hour bus ride back to Montreal!

So as I said, I came back to campus on Monday night and I am so happy to be back!  It was great to see all of my new friends and hear all about their holidays! One thing that I am still getting used to is the cold - there is so much snow here! I am definitely going out to buy a long winter parka sometime soon! Last night, we had an Abbott Block 1 and 2 reunion dinner and we got to meet all of the new people in our building. We lost a few international students who went back to their home countries as well as some people who moved to different residences but I am really looking forward to getting to know our new inhabitants!

Yesterday morning marked the official start of semester 2 classes! I attended 5 classes yesterday for a total of 9 hours of class, so it was a very, very long day. I am going to 2 classes today that I am not yet registered for just to try them out and hopefully switch into in order to balance out my schedule. Over the break, my schedule was moved around a lot (not by my doing) and so it has been a bit stressful trying to figure everything out! But hopefully by the end of the week, all will be good again!

In other news, today I am (hopefully) going to see my house that I will potentially be living in next year! My fellow future housemates have already seen it and they are super excited for me to see it for the first time! Hopefully, it will be a keeper and I can put the house hunting stress behind me!

Looking ahead, this semester is sure to be just as exciting as the last! I am going to be blogging for BU Recruitment again, so be on the lookout for that! I am hoping to get out skiing a few times at Jay Peaks and try out our new outdoor ice rink! In a week or two, we have Winterfest 2013, which includes a ski trip, a poutine eating contest and a sledding obstacle course! In February, my friends and I are planning on going to Carnaval, the big winter carnival in Quebec City. It's going to be a great semester!

So that's all I've got for now but I will keep you updated on everything happening here in Lennoxville as time goes on! On a side note, I just want to thank all of the you who have been reading my blog. Over the holidays, I heard lots of people say that they have been reading this and loving it, so thank you very much!!! Best of luck in the New Year everyone!

All my love, Erica xoxoxoxox

PS The Bishop's Magazine came out over the break and my Environmental Studies class was featured in it! I am the person in the pink sweater to the left with my head down!
